Pre-Game Special Edition
Bay Shore Vs. Brentwood
Brentwood has sailed through the playoffs with wins over Deer Park, Riverhead and defending State Champions West Babylon and have outscored their opponents by the margin of 28-7. The bats have awoken for the playoffs and it seems that Nicole Flint has found her magic back on the mound. Bay Shore is coming off wins against Sachem East, Whitman and a big win over rival East Islip where the team really stepped up a notch to eliminate EI.
In the first match up of the season, we were all treated to a great game as Bay Shore jumped out to a commanding 4-0 lead. Brentwood, looking shocked and stunned finally brought their bats out of the bus and scored 2 runs in the 6th inning to cut the lead to 4-2. Bay Shore would not stand still as they wanted this game badly to keep their hopes of an undefeated season alive and to prove they were ready to play with the big girls. In the bottom of the 6th Bay Shore came back to score 1 run and head into the 7th with a 5-2 lead. That just about sealed it for everyone in the park as we all saw the wind knocked out of Brentwood. However, just when everyone was talking about the Bay Shore win I guess Brentwood had earplugs in because they scored 3 runs to tie the game and send it into extra innings. Bay Shore came back to win the game in the 8th inning on an infield hit, a sac bunt and a single up the middle in what turned out to be one of the most exciting games of the season.
Brentwood hopes to win this series in 2 games as they will be going with their ace Nicole Flint for the whole series while Bay Shore can deliver the one/two punch they have all year in Liz Weber and Taylor McGowan. The weather might play a big part in the game as the slick outfield will play better for Bay Shore's quicker outfield but a damp infield might slow down Bay Shore's short game and give that edge to Brentwood. The field will be packed as everyone will hope to see another great game.
