Game Rundown:

Kings Park comes in after a big win over Islip to even its record at 2-2. While Sayville comes in 3-1 and in second place behind Eastport.

The temperature at game time was more like football weather instead of softball weather as the fans were wrapped up and ready for a tail gate party instead of the game that was to be played.

Today's match up has two squads that are evenly matched. Pitching and defense seem to be the theme of these 2 well coached programs. Todays pitching match up features Kings Park's Lindsay Taylor vs. Sayville's 9th grader Merissa Selts. In the bottom of the 2nd Emily Sellitti singled, stole second and a surprise bunt single by Ashley Agnitti gave Sayville 1st and 3rd with 2 outs. A wild pitch put Sayville up 1-0.

The bottom of the third saw Kings Park get their first base runner of the game when Jessica Julich reached on an error and advanced all the way to third when the throw back to the pitcher went into dead territory. Merissa got the next batter to strike out, then a ground ball to second with a drawn in infield kept the runner at third for the second out and a ground ball to 3rd ended the threat.

The bottom of the 4th started out strong for Kings Park and it didn't end until they had a 4-1 lead. Back to back singles by Jessica LoBianco and Megan McGinley put runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs. Heather McGinley then singled to load the bases. Nicole Torlincasi singled through a drawn in infield to tie the score at one. After a wild pitch scored the go ahead run and moved runners to 2nd and 3rd Jessica Julich singled to drive in 2 more runs. Nicole Brieva tried to keep the rally going when she singled to left but Julich was thrown out on the play by Sayville's Jenn O'Neil.

Sayville would not lie down in the next inning as back to back singles by Maddie Vetrano and Kira Karl put runners on 1st and 2nd but Taylor closed the door getting 2 fielders choices at third and a strikeout ending Sayville's threat.

Kings Park added another run in the 5th when Heather McGinley doubled to center and drove in KP's 5th run.

Final Score: King's Park 5, Sayville 1
