Game Rundown:
The game started off with a bang as Sayville's Kira Karl led off with a double to right center field. Jill Iorio followed with a single up the middle to drive in the games first run. On the throw to the plate Jill took second. Ann Marie Smith was up next and singled over short but Jill had to stop at third as she had to make sure the ball wasn't caught. Ann Marie continued to second on the throw home. After a strike out seemed to settle things down Marissa Selts singled to drive in Iorio. Lindsey Taylor then induced a ground ball back to the mound and tried to pick the lead runner at third but the throw got away and two runs scored. Kathline Maehr, who hit the ball, came all the way around to third on the play. Bridget Brennan grounded out to second to drive in Sayville's 5th run of the inning. Taylor struck out the next hitter but the damage was done as Sayville left the first with a 5 run cushion.
Sayville's second started with a strikeout but Kira Karl singled to center and the ball got away and Kira took second. Iorio reached on an error to make it 1st and 3rd and Sayville was back in business. Iorio stole second to get two runners in scoring position. Ann Marie Smith followed with a ground ball to second and the throw home was late as Kira scored the 6th Sayville run. Jenn O'Neill followed with a line drive through a drawn in infield and second baseman Jessica Julich made a nice play and fired to third for an inning ending double play.
In the bottom of the second Marissa Armocida and Jessica Julich each advanced a base on a ground out to short. A passed ball gave Kings Park their first run of the game as Armocida scored.
In the top of the 3rd Kathline Maehr reached on an error and scored from first on Bridget Brennans double to left center to up Sayville's lead 7-1. In the 4th Sayville kept up the pressure as Jill Iorio singled, Ann Marie smith walked and Jenn O'Neill hit a 3-0 pitch that one hopped over the right field fence to drive in Iorio. Marissa Selts followed with a single up the middle to knock in Sayville's 9th and 10th runs.
Kings Park came back to score two runs in the bottom of the 4th as Heather McGinley singled to center, as the ball got away, Heather advanced to 3rd. Jessica Julich got her second hit of the game to drive in Heather. Jessica stole second on the first pitch and scored on Nicole Torlincasi's single. After 4 full innings Sayville held a 10-3 lead.
The game started having a feeling of swinging Kings Parks' way and if you just walked up you would think that they were winning as Sayville went a little flat. With one out in the 5th Jessica LoBianco struck out but reached 1st on a past ball. Lindsay Taylor singled to put runners on 1st and 2nd. The next hitter hit a slow ground ball to 1st and Chelsea Connestro threw to third but Lobianco slid in safely and KP had the bases loaded. Heather McGinley crushed a line drive that gave Chelsea a chance to redeem herself and that she did with a great backhand stab and a step on first for a inning ending double play. The DP seemed to pump life into a quiet Sayville squad and sucked the air out of KP as they came up and scored 2 runs on 1 hit, 2 KP errors and a wild pitch.
Kings Park went down in the 7th as Sayville advances to play the winner of the Miller Place vs. East Hampton game.
