Game Rundown:

Kings Park vs. Islip

Today's match-up featured League 5 rivals Kings Park vs. Islip. The pitching match-up for the day was Kings Park Lindsay Taylor vs. Islip's Alex Devries. Kings Park comes into the contest with a 1-2 League and overall record while Islip comes in 0-1 (league) 1-2 overall. In the very tough league 5 this game is very important for both teams as it will help the winner even out their league record as well as the leagues playoff picture.

The first inning didn't look very promising for Islip as Kings Park led off the game with a 2 base error and a single to left by Megan McGinley with one out. On the hit Lindsay Taylor, who was on 2nd did not advance keeping the runners on 2nd and third with one out. A past ball moved the runners to 2nd and 3rd. With 2 runners in scoring position Heather McGinley hit a pop up in the infield Bermuda triangle between the pitcher, SS and 2nd baseman but a great diving catch by 2nd baseman Faith Laudano, and a pop out to center helped Islip escape the jam. In the bottom of the first Lindsay Taylor struck out the side to keep the score even at 0-0.

In the Kings Parks 2nd a lead off walk, hit batter and an rbi single to center by Nicole Brieva gave KP a 1-0 lead. With runners on 1st and 3rd Brieva stole 2nd and Reina Torlincasi scored from 3rd on the throw, Taylor walked and Brieva scored on a past ball with Taylor taking 2nd. Jessica LoBianco doubled and Megan McGinley singled to make it a 5 run inning. Things could have been worse for Islip as Marissa Armocida drove a 2-1 pitch into the right center field gap where right fielder Carolyn Vaeth made an outstanding diving catch to keep the score at 5-0.

Meanwhile on the other side of the field Taylor was throwing a gem as she had a perfect game going into the 6th inning. Taylor had struck out 7 of the last 8 batters she faced before Caroyln Vaeth drove a single to right, Kings Park right fielder Jessica LoBianco charged hard and threw to first but Carolyn beat the throw for Islip's first hit and first runner of the game. Amanda Hill then walked and just like that, Islip had something going. However, after a brief time out, Lindsay pulled it together by getting the next three batters to squash Islip's only threat of the game.

Final Score: Kings Parks 7 Islip 0
